Euphorbia Hirta

Euphorbia Hirta (aka Asthma weed) has traditionally been used to treat bronchial asthma, upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) and laryngeal (throat) spasm.

In modern herbalism it is more used in the treatment of intestinal amoebic dysentery, in treating Dengue and Chikungunya and chronic liver diseases.

Applications for Euphorbia Hirta:

• A natural medicine used to treat asthma and bronchial infection, cough and throat spasms. It breaks up mucus and relaxes spasms.
• Used in liver problems, including primary liver cancer.
• Dengue and Chikungunya. Euphorbia Hirta is used with success to increase low blood platelets count in Dengue fever and Chikungunya.

1. Low platelet count, means that the blood possesses too few thrombocytes or specialized blood cells called platelets that help to aid in blood clotting.
2. Dengue is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. It is characterized by fever rash, joint pain and muscle pains.
3. Symptoms can range from mild to severe (life-threatening).
4. The Chikungunya disease is transmitted in the same way as dengue fever to humans by the virus- carrying Aedes mosquitoes.
5. The common symptoms of this virus infection are fever and severe joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling or rash.
6. Natural ways to treat these diseases are with dietary herbal supplements (medicinal tea or herbal tincture) of plants that increase the dwindling platelet count of the blood (Thrombocytopenia), without notable effects in red blood cells and white blood cells.

• Euphorbia hirta is locally used in Africa and Australia to treat numerous diseases, including hypertension and edema.

Dose:

To treat asthma and bronchial infection, cough and throat spasms, take 1 dropper full 3 to 4 times daily. To treat dengue and chikungunya take 2 droppers full every 4 hours for up to 6 days.
