The origins of ear candling can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Native Americans. These cultures recognized the therapeutic benefits of ear candling and used it as a form of natural medicine.

Benefits of ear candling:

  • Removing excess earwax and debris from the ear canal.
  • Improving hearing.
  • Reducing earaches and infections.
  • Alleviating symptoms of tinnitus.
  • Treating sinus infections.
  • Relieving sore throats.
  • Helping with relaxation.

Most western medicine and studies say there are no proven benefits. I say try it and decide for yourself.

Here is how an ear candle is used:

  1. Your practitioner or trusted friend will have you lie on your side.
  2. some people like to place a X cut in the center of a paper plate to create a barrier between patient and flame. see photo.
  3. The pointed end of the candle is placed in your ear.
  4. The top of the tubular candle is lit.
  5. No wax is allowed to drip into the ear or on the skin around the ear.
  6. The candle is burned for about 15 minutes or until it reaches the safety line about 3 to 4 inches from the bottom.
  7. The flame is best extinguished by dropping into a glass of water, though some people simply blow it out.
